Peter Taylor praised his team's resolve as a much-improved second half performance saw them unfortunate to finish with just a point against Chile.

The Three Lions had to settle for a 1-1 draw in Antalya and will now go into the final Group E fixture with Egypt knowing that a win will be enough to take them through to the knock-out stages.

But it was the manner of his team's performance against the South Americans which pleased Taylor the most, as they came back from a goal down to equalise and finish the match strongly.

Head Coach Taylor said: "I'm very pleased that we recovered and got a draw because Chile are a very good team.

"To be honest, at half time I was very disappointed that we were one down because I felt we had two very good chances.

"It was just a case of keep going and trying to find a bit of end product.

"Thankfully in the end we got that and we had some fresh legs in the second half and we did very well.

"They're a skilful team and difficult to stop at times but overall I thought we created some very good chances and I was very pleased with our fitness.

"Compared with our first match, I thought our fitness was very good so I'm very pleased with them."

There was controversy about Chile's opener, with Danny Potts harshly judged to have fouled winger Angelo Henriquez for a penalty.

The referee didn't appear to award it at first, but a signal from his assistant changed that and Chile took a goal-lead into the break.

Taylor added: "I always believe that an assistant referees are maybe not as good as referees, so that's why they're assistant referees.

"It was the assistant referee who gave it and the referee was just as close and could see the situation but hadn't given it.

"I just felt that the assistant referee should leave it, because I didn't think it was a penalty."

The squad now leave Antalya and head north to Bursa, where they will face Egypt in the final match of the group on Saturday.

England know that a win will be enough to take them through, although a point could still be good enough depending on how the other groups progress.

But Taylor heads out of Antalya with plenty of positives to reflect on from the first two games.

"We head up now to Bursa to playt Egypt, who could have been 3-1 up against Chile, so we know it's going to be another difficult game," he said.

"But we know that if we play the same type of way against Egypt that we played tonight, we can create some good chances."
